Description
Hand Caterpillar
The weighted stainless steel beads roll between fingers beautifully. Many rub the cord also. This fidget is super soft in effect. You can push your fingers in between the beads for a similar sensation to the pea popper.
It is particularly great for those that stim with fabric, Blu-Tack rollers or like low sensory input as it glides between the fingers & is very calming. It is small, discreet and quiet. Given it is a quiet fidget, it makes it ideal for the workplace, travel or the classroom.
Many convert this to a fidget worn on wrist - There are 2 differnet ways to convert it to be worn on wrist. See images & videos.
Wrist Caterpillar
This is a wearable product however you can use it in the same way as the standard caterpillar. You tie/knot this style to secure it to wrist or ankle.
Necklace Caterpillar
They come in one size that will fit all but can easily be shortened to the wearer's preferred length (see below). They have a break away clasp for safety if pulled & come in a storage container.
To shorten necklace:
Simply cut and retie knot at each end to the desired length & pull knot back into the casing of the clasp. We find the easiest way to find optimum length is to have arms at right angle across belly. The bead length should be about at this height.
"I am a recluse but forced myself to go to a comedy show (1st trigger leaving the house). I was running late (2nd trigger). Had to park a bit away so had to walk really fast (3rd trigger). By the time we got to the venue where there were heaps of people (final trigger) I was really struggling with anxiety/panic. I couldn't get my breath. It was awful. What saved me? This hand caterpillar I had slipped in my pocket before leaving the house. I don't leave the house without one after that experience. Something I HIGHLY recommend. THANK YOU! Bec October 2023"
Not suitable for 3 and under as beads can pose a choking risk
n.b. The antennae needs to pulled every so often to keep knots tight. Please note they are made using cord that can frey over timesue to friction. This is wear and tear and cannot be avoided. The time this takes to occur can depend on how the fidget is used.
These have been effective for those who
- hair twirl or pull
- stim with fabric
- roll Blu-Tac (NOTE : SPEKS range also helpful to replace this also)
- love soft sensory input
- also wonderful for decreasing agitation & worry for example for those with dementia.
" I am a late diagnosed female. I have always been a hair twirler. I was curious about this fidget as it states it is close to hair twirling and it’s a nice soft fidget. I absolutely love this fidget, it helps me manage my anxiety and soothes me." Tracey M June 2023
"This has been worth every cent and I've only had it for a day! I'd been using regular bead bracelets to fiddle with when I'm anxious, but they just didn't feel that great and were a bit fragile. The way this is threaded feels sooo much more satisfying, I'm amazed how "soft" the metal can feel and the cords are excellent quality and silky smooth too. I've been keeping it loose in my jacket pocket to fidget with, or it's also easy enough to tie it around your wrist if you prefer the bracelet style! I'd absolutely recommend this and Jo is super lovely too. If they ever bring out a version with heavier weighted beads I'll be buying it instantly Julia July 2023"

Keeping the fidgets sanitised. - They are fine to wipe , ours regularly go through washing machine, the trick is to wipe excess moisture off them. If left wet/damp (eg in washing machine lol) they can rust in appearance a little but generally does not affect function. wiping with an antibacterial wipe or damp cloth then drying off thoroughly is the key.
